Painting is about as direct a response to the world as your going to get in the visual arts. The less contrived, the more direct.
It is one of the most fundamental formative acts engaged in by human beings. (Fundamental because we’ve been doing it for at least forty thousand years, formative because in revealing our character as a society it may either reinforce or cause us to change our behavior.)
All art, through what is painted and the way it is painted is about the time culture and person that produced it. Art is cultural disclosure.
I paint from my experience what I find interesting, in the way I do because it doesn’t interfere with the painting.
My work is intentionally accessible it speaks plainly through recognizable imagery. It is as uncontrived as possible as visceral as possible. If I’m lucky most people who see it will respond to it.
